Cholesterol Testing

Heart disease, or coronary heart disease, is the most common cause of death in Ireland. It is a heart problem where the arteries that supply blood to the heart become blocked. Most heart disease is preventable and knowing the risk factors is the first step to taking control.

One of the best ways to reduce your risk of Coronory Heart Disease is to keep cholesterol level in your blood at a healthy level. Having raised cholsterol levels will rarely produce any symptoms but will significantly increase your risk of developing Coronary Heart Disease. Only a blood test will tell you if your cholesterol levels are raised.

We can check your total cholesterol level in store with written results in only 5 minutes. This involves taking a small sample of blood (about one large drop) from the finger tip which is then put into a machine which measures the cholesterol level. The result obtained gives a breakdown of total Cholesterol, LDL, HDL & Triglycerides levels.

It is advisable to fast for 12 hours before the test, to obtain an accurate result.

Our trained staff memeber will let you know your cholesterol level and tell you what, if any, further action should be taken.

Available in our Eyre Square and William Street branches.

The cost for a Cholesterol check is €20.00
